Michael I had immediately recognized - even after 23 years. The restaurant in Santa Monica is his recommendation - just around the corner, or 15 minutes by car. The evening is nice, interesting and for me much more productive than the meeting with Carol. First, Michael asks about our route and we describe to him all the sights of his Country, which he still does not know or where he was most once as a child.
Then we move on to politics and comparisons between the U.S. and Europe. No later than the extent of the annual holiday periods, said Michael still want to emigrate to Austria and he could even try to learn Turkish to apply to immigrants in Austria proper. You can tell that Michael is pretty far left by American standards, but asked for the many homeless and he responded a bit baffled as to why we see this as a problem. The halt came to San Francisco or Venice, as they would as tolerated by the city authorities here sooner.
Unfortunately Mia present, as her stomach was "upset" is how a typical American reads this circumlocution. We bring in the American Grill restaurant with a serving of rice and learn from her that we missed in the meantime, two fire alarms. This is not a real failure, because apparently it still does not anyone understand that the relationship between smoking in the room and the next minute-long shrill scream from the pain threshold of a causal link. So we have twice the opportunity to remedy this omission - one of them in the middle of the night. The experience is always something new here.
Breakfast in Erwin is then doubly unusual: The breakfast room is full, so we in the so-called soft patio - a kind of veranda directly between the hotel driveway and four-lane road. Very cozy. But we experience the luxury of eating from real china plates and drink from right Mugs. And the muffins and donuts baked fresh taste and at least one class are better than elsewhere. You can tell just yet, that the hotel is owned by a French chain - the latest in eating and dining.
